The Tempest (2005)

Mark Rylance in The Tempest

directed by Tim Carroll

Prospero has been exiled from his dukedom in Milan. With his young daughter, he is put to sea to perish. Fortune lands them on a remote island where, twelve years later, his enemies are also apparently shipwrecked.

On this island Prospero is attended by the supernatural spirit Ariel and the sub-human Caliban. Three actors played these parts and all other characters in the play. All characters are presented not only as people in their own right, but as indiviudal aspects of the psyche to be found in every human soul.
